Mummy please don't leave me alone in the dark

Last night hubby went to the Father's Club Meeting, so I was home alone with Jaden. My night routine is always very standard: When I am back from work with Jaden, I quickly shower, then I breastfeed him. Usually he will fall asleep breastfeeding around 7 to 8pm and he wakes up around 9pm+, then I will change him into his pyjama and he will go to bed at around 10pm.

He was a bit cranky last night and didn't fall asleep throughout the breastfeeding, and was whining and sobbing after that. I had to pacify him, rock him, and eventually he fell asleep around 8.40pm. Then I put him inside his cot and went downstairs for my dinner.

After dinner I was washing up in the kitchen when I heard the sound of baby crying. I paused and listen to the cry and I was pretty sure it's my neighbour's baby girl who cries a lot, so I continued with my washing. But the cry got louder and louder and I thought oh no!! this is Jaden crying!!!

I ran upstairs to the room and as I open the door, I saw my poor baby standing up inside his cot crying in the dark (well, not complete darkness, because I have switched on the night light). I turned on the ceiling lights immediately and I picked him up from the cot. My poor baby has tears on his face and mucus running from his nose. I felt sooooo bad. Usually my ears are very sharp and I attend to him immediately when he wakes up in his sleep crying, I don't know why last night I missed it :(

But I am glad my nose never fails me, I can always tell when Jaden has poo poo, when hubby is still happily carrying him and playing with him but did not notice anything at all. My sense of smell is so incredibly strong the police should hire me to smell drugs, I am serious :D Then may be I can quit my current job and only work for the police once in a while for a big pay check.. hehehe... stop dreaming HM and go back to work! :p

  1. You can get a baby monitor so you can hear him clearly when he's in his room and you are downstairs. I always rely on it when the girls are asleep and I need to do chores downstairs.

  2. i have my eldest sister's Fisher Price baby monitor which is 16 years old, hahaha, it was passed down from 1 sister to the other and now it's with me. Not that we don't want to buy new one, but all my sisters claim this is still the best, in terms of the sensitivity of picking up sound (even the neighbour's snoring, hahaha, no la). But the connection is a bit loose already after all these years so sometimes I just don't bother to turn it on :p

may be i shd go get a new one.. what brand is good?
